New To Yoga

Trying anything new can be intimidating, and being new to a yoga class is no different. Many peoples perception of yoga is based on media images and they think they have to be flexible to attend a class. Everyones bodies are made differently and we all make different shapes in poses. So please don’t worry if your pose looks totally different to the person on the mat next to you. But the truth is, the more inflexible you are, the more flexibility benefit you’ll get; in other words, you don’t have to be flexible to do yoga in the first place, it’s the yoga that helps you improve your flexibility.

The physical practice of yoga is also not just about flexibility, its about finding strength and balance in the body too, in fact, flexibility alone is a very dangerous talent, as without strength and balance you can easily injure yourself. The best way to know if yoga is for you is to give it a try.
